About

Thank you for visiting Shadow of Asenath: Fantastic Terrors, a place for all things terrifying.

In this space you will find horror history, folklore, essays and original short fiction. The title of this site references the works of two of my favorite horror writers: H.P. Lovecraft, Asenath Waite being a character from his short story “The Thing on the Doorstep”; and Edgar Allen Poe, “fantastic terrors” pulled from a line in his famous poem ‘The Raven”. While I love their work, Poe and Lovecraft are not the only horror writers I adore.

Like many 80s/90s kids I cut my horror teeth on books series like R.L. Stine’s “Goosebumps”, and “Fear Street” novels. I eventually moved on to others in the genre like Anne Rice, Bram Stoker, Clive Barker, and others. I favor goth literature more than anything and I love a moody and dark atmosphere. A classic haunted house story pulls me in like no other.

My love of horror does not stop at literature, I also love horror films and television and horror themed video games and music. I am eager to share my love of the genre and build a community of other horror fans. Along with the aforementioned content, I will also be discussing the latest news, information on new and upcoming releases, as well as giving reviews of movies, television, literature, and other horror media.
